Day 14

 Highlights from Today...

Our day began with a number of the day, 5934, we used this number to write expanded form, written form, base ten blocks and added 10, 100, and 1000 to the number.

We played Race to 500 using dice, rolling two dice students would add them together then add the sum to the running total. Congratulations to Zuhair for reaching 500, the rest of us will catch up tomorrow!

In literacy, we discussed the short and long e today. We really need to learn the difference between a vowel and a consonant. Homework tonight is to memorize the 5 vowels (A, E, I, O, U).

This afternoon we began a new novel, everyone loved Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing so much, we are reading the second book in the series called SuperFudge. In the very first chapter Peter's parents announce they are having another baby and Peter is so upset, he wants nothing to do with another Fudge. We can't wait to hear more!

Throughout the day we finally finished our symbols of Alberta page, we did not include all the symbols (we will draw the bird, Great Horned Owl and the animal, Big Horn Sheep at a later date) but they pages look amazing. We were focusing on shading when colouring, organizing our pages by placing items straight and labeling items.
