Day 10

 Highlights from Today...

It was a very busy day today and we accomplished a lot!

Our day began with a scrabble eye opener, where we used the letters EEADDNXNP to create as many words as we can and find the big word using all the letters

We painted a wash background to write the good copy of our poem tomorrow.

As we read Chapter 8 of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing we drew pictures of what was happening on our whiteboards, Fudge would not ride the Toddle Bike unless Peter did it first!

In math we completed our place value flip chart (this took patience, measuring, cutting and organizing)

For social studies, we drew a compass rose, and used our map and compass to begin to to answer mapping questions about Canada and Alberta.

Reminders...

Conference booking opens today (at this point we are unsure if we will be calling parents or using Skype, please stay tuned...)

Next week on Monday, we will have some changes to our lunch time and recess therefore we are working towards having a morning snack around 10:15. Often students are hungry before this so I am encouraging them to eat a big breakfast and maybe have a quick snack around 8 right before school begins. Next week our eating time will be 12:20 where as it is 11:55 right now. This will give each group the same amount of time outside and space between the groups coming in and out to help avoid passing other groups.

Other changes that will occur beginning on Monday will be a soft entry in the morning as students arrive at school. Students will be able to go into their classrooms (through their designated doors) when they arrive and teachers will be in the room. We are hoping this will alleviate some congestion and allow us to get our day started without waiting in so many lines.
